Reclining Alien warlord

Just a bit of fun this. I just wanted to do a cheezy alien villain. The sort you would expect to find in an old 50's sci-fi comic.

This began as a quick greyscale digital sketch. I then overlay washes of color using soft light and hardlight brushes. When i was quite happy with the image. I tweaked the colours and contrast to add dynamism. I then duplicated the image and put the duplicate through several noise filters. I overlayed this as a soft light layer with a low opacity. This gives the image its slight grain which I feel gives the color a greater richness and makes the piece appear less computer generated. Finally I overlay the image with a scan of some chipboard again as a soft light layer at a low opacity, to give further texture.
This is a fairly important piece for me as it is the first image (that I am happy with) which I have produced totally on the computer. The software I used was Photoshop 7.
